BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

ABowling Green woman is battling for her life and is trying to raise money for afour-legged friend to help her.

AshleyKinstler is just 21 years old and works daily to manage her type one diabetes.

"It'svery exhausting, having to make sure you basically stay alive 24-7," she said.

Kinstlersays the scariest part is not knowing when she might crash.

"Yourlife is in your own hands, and that's really a scary thing to have to dealwith, especially when I don't live at home anymore," she said.

Soshe's been raising money for a diabetic alert dog named Keona, who she met forthe first time last week.

Keonais getting special scent-based training. Kinstler keeps samples of her high andlow blood sugar levels in the freezer, and then ships them to Texas so Keonacan get used to her scent.

"I'vefelt a little bit more at ease about my diabetes knowing that help is on theway," Kinstler said.

Butthat help doesn't come cheap. She needs to raise $15,000 to bring Keona home.So far, Kinstler has raised more than $9,000 toward her goal. To help bringKinstler and Keona together, clickhere.
