Titanic exhibit featured at Imagination Station through June

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

It's a story that has fascinated the world for more than 100 years: the sinking of the Titanic.

This extraordinary tale of human endurance and heroism has come to Imagination Station in downtown Toledo. The title of the show is "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition." Galleries feature more than 150 real artifacts of the doomed ship, along with room re-creations.

Visitors come to explore the science of the Titanic.

"It's a story of engineering, fabricating the giant ship. Granted, it was brought down by a piece of ice, but the story that goes along with the sinking and rescue of the survivors is an amazing story," said Imagination Station Chief Scientist Carl Nelson.

The Titanic weighed 46,000 tons. A total of 1,500 people perished.

The exhibit features educational programs geared towards children, as well as adults. Everyone gets a glimpse of life on the Titanic's only cruise.

"It works for all ages. Such a historic event. You really dive into it and get those personal stories," said Imagination Station CEO Lori Hauser.

"Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition" opens Saturday at Imagination Station and runs through June 15.
