Lawrenceburg, Ind. Slopestyle skier Nick Goepper took home bronze in Sochi on Thursday in his first appearance at the winter games.

The 19-year-old, who was considered a favorite in the mens ski slopestyle, fell on his first qualifying opening run. He was able to come back in his second run and advance to the finals.

Goepper was leading in the finals before dropping in placement after his second run. He finished with a score of 92.40 behind fellow Americans Joss Christensen and Gus Kenworthy.

Goepper took the bronze behind the two Americans with a 3.4 point difference between him and first place winner Christensen.

Out of the four Americans competing in the finals, three of them came out on top.

Goepper finished first in the Winter X games this year before he took off for Sochi. He got his start skiing at Perfect North Slopes in Lawrenceburg.
