Facebook posts from more than a year ago caused controversy at a west Toledo business Tuesday night. While a community group won't stand for the derogatory comments made, the business owners feel the group's outrage has crossed the line.  The posts from Twin Oak Lanes owner Jeff Kuhnle that were made in 2016 and 2017 are now haunting him. The posts use derogatory and racially insensitive comments about Muslims.  "First of all as a Muslim woman living in America ...

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Action taken by Toledo City Council might be a small piece of the puzzle, but cooperation between the city and the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority is focusing on future job growth at the former Jeep Parkway site.

Council has approved a resolution for the city to vacate a portion of Jeep Parkway next to the industrial park to allow for plans to move forward and to allow for reconfiguration of a portion of that road.

ODOT and the city are planning on major roadway improvements in that area over the next couple of years. Councilman Rob Ludeman says redeveloping that site is important to bring new economic activity to that land, and it's also important for Toledo residents who live nearby.

"I think it's going to be a great addition, will eventually mean jobs," he said. "It will also enhance the neighborhoods surrounding an older neighborhood because potential is there for employment."

So far the port authority has commitments from the AirGas Company to build a new regional facility at the site, and for the construction of a spec building that's expected to attract an auto supplier or another type of manufacturing operation.
