DELTA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Individual High School Wrestling tournament begins this week. One of the wrestlers with a chance at an individual title is Delta's Tyler Fahrer. Tyler's team already won a dual state championship last weekend. The senior has come close to the individual state championship before, but says he brings a new inspiration to the competition this year.

"She met the world to me. I could just go down to her house and talk to her about everything our relationship was like nothing else," said Tyler.

Tyler is talking about his aunt, Susie Mattemore. Mattemore died unexpectedly about a year ago.

Mattemore was a big part of Tyler's life. Family members say she helped raise his mother as their mother worked multiple jobs to support the family. Later, Mattemore helped raise Tyler.

Tyler says he still feels his aunt's support when he wrestles.

"I feel like wherever I go I just, In the back of my head, I know she is right there cheering me on. Even when I'm wrestling I know she is right there yelling my name like she always use to," said Tyler.

Delta coach Anthony Carrizales says Tyler has a great chance at taking home a state championship.

"He's one of the type of kids that I think is really a prototype of our program, of a kid being able to have a lot of success going through our club going through our junior high and then us being able to polish him up in high school.  He's had a great career of wrestling all the way from the time he was a little kid and for him being able to cap it off with a state title I know is the ultimate goal that he's been looking for," Carrizales.
