100 companies recruit UT business students at job fair

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

More than 100 major companies visited the University of Toledo College of Business and Innovation annual winter job fair to find talent their businesses need.

Coca Cola, Best Buy, Chrysler, DHL, Marathon, HCR ManorCare, Westfield Group, Kroger and more participated.

"The tremendous participation of so many well-known businesses at our semi-annual job fair reflects very positively on the quality of both our programs and our students," said Terribeth Gordon-Moore, the college's senior associate dean. "It also demonstrates the extremely dynamic and mutually beneficial relationship enjoyed by the college and major national recruiting companies, such as Enterprise, Healthcare REIT, Huntington and Cooper Tire & Rubber."

Gordon-Moore added that employers were looking for undergraduates interested in internships, as well as graduates seeking full-time positions.

"We also strongly encourage our freshmen students to attend the job fair, engage these company representatives now, and begin a relationship with these employers," she said.

Employers said UT has a wealth of talent for picking candidates.

"When you try to find the next rock star or A player, or performer, it's kind of hard to get those people to leave their current employer because they obviously are doing very well. So, if you want to find those people, the best place to find them is at universities, like the University of Toledo. So that's why we're here," said Nathaniel Sykes with Liberty Mutual Insurance

According to the dean, the job fair is part of what the college does to prepare students for their futures, and the Business Career Programs Office works year-round to assist students in acquiring internships and jobs upon graduation. Leaders feel by providing the necessary resources, students can conduct their own tailored job searches.

More than 85 percent of College of Business and Innovation students participate in internships, and the job placement rate for graduates is greater than 80 percent, even in recent economic times.
