Chesterfield mom devastated by 19-year-old daughter's murder

A Chesterfield mother is speaking out about the death her 19-year-old daughter.

Richmond Police say Kadijah Stewart was found dead on the 2200 block of Mandalay Road.

Stewart's funeral is set for this Friday. Police say this is not a random crime. Stewart's mother is devastated.

"It took all the life out of me," said Stewart's mother Kenisha Dorsey.

Dorsey says her daughter had dreams of going to the U.S. Air Force.

"I can't even get past her being dead," said Dorsey who remembers her last conversation with her daughter.

"I said girl you know I'm getting ready to cook all this fish," recalls Dorsey. "And she said mom I'm coming right back. I'll be right back."

But the Chesterfield County native who graduated with honors would never return home.

"Her shoes are still just sitting in my floor where she left them," said Dorsey. "I don't have the strength to move them."

A makeshift memorial marks the spot where Stewart's body was found. Mom says she is convinced that her daughter was killed by someone she knew and had a relationship with.

"I just always looked at her like this is my child that I don't have to worry about," said Dorsey.

Mom still hasn't found the strength to view the body.

"It's really hurtful," said Dorsey. "But it gives me that little chance of hope that they got the wrong person."

The funeral is set for this Friday at New Life Deliverance Tabernacle. If you have any information.  give crime stoppers a call at 804-780-1000.
