TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - In the wake of the loss of two Toledo firefighters Toledo resident Jamie Armstrong began to organize an effort to feed Toledo firehouses for a week. After a successful week, Armstrong and other volunteers are extending their efforts another week.

The group, called "Feed Our Toledo Firefighters," is also planning to provide meals on the 26th day of each month.

Toledo Firefighters Stephen Machcinski and James Dickman were killed in a fire on Magnolia Street in Toledo's north end on January 26.

Armstrong says volunteers are needed to cook dishes for several fire houses, but most stations are all set when it comes to deserts.

"The fire stations have gotten so many desserts, they feel like they're just overloaded on sugar and kind of don't know what to do with them, which they're appreciative of...but, in lieu of desserts this week, we'd like to see more beverages, main dishes and side dishes, that way they can cut back on the cookies and cupcakes," said Armstrong.
