Body of infant found in wooded area in Pulaski County

A baby's body has been found in Pulaski County during the search for a 5-month-old that has been missing since Monday.

According to WSLS in Roanoke, evidence gathered in a police investigation surrounding the child's father, Howard Cole, led them to a wooded area off Interstate 81. Investigators are still combing the scene for evidence.

Police cannot officially confirm the identity of the body yet, pending the medical examiner's findings. The Pulaski police chief says the body is "identical in appearance and size to 5-month-old" they were looking for.

Howard Cole has been charged with felony child abuse.
