McDonnells back in Richmond Federal Court Monday

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Former Gov. Bob McDonnell and his wife Maureen will be back in a Richmond federal courtroom Feb. 3, trying to modify the conditions of their release.

At issue is whether or not the former First Couple can speak with close friends and family who will likely be called as government witnesses.

The trial is scheduled to begin July 28, lasting between five to six weeks.

The McDonnell defense team has argued that the government's conditions of release are unreasonable, and that the former governor and his wife will need to speak with family and friends over the next six months.

The matter will be decided before Judge David J. Novak, with prosecutors and defense attorneys beginning proceedings at 10 a.m.
