Ways to help after the death of 2 Toledo firefighters

(Toledo News Now) -

So many people in our community are looking for ways to help after Toledo lost two firefighters in the line of duty: Stephen Machcinski and James Dickman.

Instead of feeling powerless, there are some things you can do to lend a helping hand:

- Make a donation to help the families of the fallen firefighters. Toledo Police Credit Union and Firefighter's Credit Union are managing the official donations in this situation.

- You can also support Toledo Fire & Rescue right from its website.

- Help feed the firefighters of Toledo by participating in a community potluck. For more information, visit the Feed our Toledo Firefighters group or event on Facebook.

- Change your profile picture on Facebook to the Toledo Fire & Rescue badge. Download it here.

- Family of Private James Dickman has set up a fund to assist his wife and two young children. Donations can be dropped off at any PNC bank to The Dickman Family Memorial Fund, which will go directly to his family.

7 Little Cupcakes in Perrysburg is selling a dozen cupcakes for $20 dollars. All the proceeds from their sales will be donated to Toledo Fire & Rescue.

- A group of bar owners in downtown Toledo are organizing an effort to help the family of James Dickman by selling memorial T-shirts for $20. All of the proceeds will be donated to The Dickman Family Fund. Learn more about the Downtown Toledo Pub Club on Facebook.

More to come. But this is a start. Watch WTOL 11 on TV or streaming live - we'll be covering this story in every newscast. If you have a suggestion on a way to help, e-mail it to us at news@toledonewsnow.com.
