Cleveland, OH (WOIO) - The Browns conducted a second interview with Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine on Tuesday night, and by Wednesday night, had decided they wanted to meet with him again on Thursday. According to multiple reports, Pettine will fly to Cleveland on Thursday for a third interview for the head coaching job.
Pettine, who has been in Mobile to scout players at the Senior Bowl, met with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, CEO Joe Banner, President Alec Scheiner and General Manager Mike Lombardi in Alabama.
Pettine took over the Bills' defense in January of 2013, after four seasons in the same position with the New York Jets, during which he took the Jets' defense to #1 in the NFL (2009).
The Browns also interviewed Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter on Wednesday, before flying to Florida to meet with former Tampa Bay head coach Greg Schiano.
