Holyoke school bus caught in shootout crossfire

HOLYOKE, MA (WSHM) -

Children were present on a school bus in Holyoke Wednesday evening when it was struck by stray bullets, police said.

The alleged shooter fled the scene and there is no description of any suspect.

About 10 children were on the bus at the time of the shooting, but there were no injuries.

Several shots were fired on Elm Street around 4 p.m. Wednesday and the bus was caught in the crossfire. The shooting is under investigation, but police said witnesses are not cooperating.

The bus continued dropping students off on its route following the shooting, while a police officer was present.
