Woman, 85, killed in Opp 2-vehicle crash

Authorities in Opp are investigating the cause of a 2-vehicle crash that took the life of an 85-year-old Coffee County woman Tuesday morning.

Ms. Martha Lunsford was killed when the 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier she was driving collided with a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck driven by 21-year-old Brandon James Johnson.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. at the intersection of Alabama Hwy. 299 and Covington County Road 22. Authorities say Ms. Lunsford entered the intersection of Hwy. 299 where she collided with Johnson's vehicle.

Johnson suffered only minor injuries in the crash and was treated at the scene.

An investigation with the assistance of the Alabama Department of Public Safety is ongoing.
