Texas A&M will try Tennessee's physical game Saturday in Knoxville

(RNN) - A couple of early winners in the SEC race face off Saturday in Knoxville when Texas A&M travels to Tennessee.

The 10-4 Aggies shut down high-scoring Arkansas 69-53 at home, smothering the Razorbacks' high-powered outside game and cranking up their own.

A&M, not known for its 3-point power, hit seven-of-17 threes, while Arkansas, which hit town scoring 87 points per game, managed a miserable four-of-19 from behind the arc. The Razorbacks hit just 36 percent from the floor against the tough Aggie D.

The Vols (10-4, 1-0) went on the road and used a big first half to smash LSU 68-50 in their league opener. Jordan McRae was 6-of-7 from the floor and hit all three of his 3-pointers to score 19 points; 6-8 wide-body Jarnell Stokes had 15 points and 15 boards and Antonio Baron added 14 points.

The Vols hit a devastating 53.8 percent from the floor in the first half to take a 38-24 halftime lead they continued to stretch in the second half against the homestanding Tigers.

The game tips at 6 p.m. and will be televised on FSN.
