Funeral arrangements for Barberton murder victims

BARBERTON, OH (WOIO) -

The Barberton community is preparing to give their final farewells to three people that lost their lives on New Year's Eve. 

18-year-old Ashley Carpenter and her younger brother 14-year-old David Kohler- Carpenter died at their father's home after intruders fatally shot the pair.  Their father, John Kohler, 42, was hospitalized after being shot but died on January 3. 

The fourth victim, John's longtime girlfriend, Ronda Blankenship, is still hospitalized and being treated for her injuries.

Funeral services for Ashley and David will be Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 7 p.m. at Apostolic Church located at 1717 Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (St. Rt. 619) in Barberton.  Pastor Paul J. Pamer and Pastor Bobby Webb will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m., prior to the service at Apostolic Church.

Funeral services John will be Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Victory Chapel located at 32 W. Bellisle Dr. in Akron with Pastor Bobby Webb officiate.  The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., prior to the service at Victory Chapel.

    The Ohio Department of Health has declared a statewide community outbreak of hepatitis A after observing an increase in cases linked to certain risk factors. Ohio is reporting 79 hepatitis A cases associated with the outbreak so far this year, almost double the number of cases reported during all of last year.
