Restaurant Report: North Side eatery in need of cleaning and repair

The latest food inspections from the Vanderburgh County Health Department feature critical violations by several local restaurants, including one north side eatery with five non-critical violations.

Restaurants with violations:

HoneyBaked Ham Express, 101 NW 1st Street

One critical violation: Outdated ground turkey

Two non-critical violations:  lacking labeling for wrapped cookies, refrigeration door has damaged gasket 

Wesselman's Sonntag, 700 Sonntag Avenue

Two non-critical violations: lights in meat cutting room & produce lack shielding and end caps, lack adequate lighting for meat room walk-in; old mice droppings observed in warehousing at west wall, warehousing at deli entrance area has dust accumulation on walls, milk walk-in is dusty, mold present

Harbor Bay North, 4428 First Avenue

Five non-critical violations: replace broken/cracked/chipped equipment, non-food contact surfaces in need of cleaning, cleaning frequency of ice bin & cooking equipment needs to be increased, facility in need of repair, facility in need of cleaning

Schnucks #705, 4500 W. Lloyd Expressway

Two non-critical violations: melons at display refrigeration measured at 54F, lacking thermometers for several deli refrigerators

Family Dollar, 1 N. Weinbach

One non-critical violation: shelves in food product area in need of cleaning 

McDonald's #5774, 909 N. St. Joseph Avenue

One critical violation: containers of food stored directly on floor

One non-critical violation: single service cups in packaging stored on floor at front counter
