Wayne County: Coroner releases preliminary cause of death for Reann Murphy

WAYNE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

The Wayne County Coroner released the preliminary findings after the initial autopsy was performed on nine year old Reann Murphy.  At this time the cause death is strangulation with an, as of yet, undetermined object.

Further evaluation will be conducted over the next several weeks and the final cause of death can be expected in the next 12 weeks.

Jerrod Metsker, 24, is charged with aggravated murder in death of Reann. He pleaded not guilty and his bond was set at $1M.

19 Action News has learned Metsker often played with the children who lived in the Smithville mobile home park.

Funeral arrangements for Reann have not been set.

Metsker will be back in court on December 23.
