JONES, OK (RNN) - An earthquake struck central Oklahoma today, just outside of Oklahoma City and five miles north of the town of Jones.

The earthquake came in at a magnitude of 4.5, according to the USGS. It was recorded just after noon at 12:10 p.m.

According to the USGS, the quake was relatively shallow and happened around 5.7 miles under the earth's surface.

The quake follows a swarm of several other more minor quakes that have centered in the area this week, all centered around Lake Arcadia and Jones.

According to the Oklahoma Geological Survey, the lake has experienced consistent earthquake swarms since 2011. In October 2013, those quakes became more significant with magnitudes of 3.0 or greater and "were felt through significant portions of the northwest Oklahoma City metropolitan area."

While the quake happened nearby, football fans were crowded into Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater for the annual intense rivalry showdown between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Fans reported feeling shaking in the area, and the Bleacher Report said that Oklahoma State made a field goal during the quake.

While the ground may have been shaking under kicker Ben Grogan, it didn't do much else. According to Edmond police, there were no reports of damage as a result of the quake.
