ASHTABULA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

A 71-year-old woman is accused of trying to poison her husband, a prominent local judge.

On September 19, the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department received a complaint from family members of Common Pleas Juvenile/Probate Court Judge Charles Hague who had been hospitalized at the Cleveland Clinic on September 15 and was found to have a high level of Ethylene Glycol or antifreeze in his system.

An ongoing investigation found that Judge Hague had been intentionally poisoned.

The investigation uncovered the suspect is the judge's wife, Carla Rae Hague, 71.

She has been charged with felonious assault and will be charged with attempted murder and remains jailed in Lake County.
