Crews battle blaze at Fort Mitchell apartment building

FT MITCHELL, KY (FOX19) -

A Fort Mitchell apartment complex has sustained heavy damage following a fire on Friday night. 

The fire broke out around 7:00 p.m. on Friday in the 200 block of General Mitchell Drive. The complex is located off Beechwood Road near I-75 between Kyles Lane and Dixie Highway.

Crews arriving on the scene say flames rose nearly 50 feet in the air. 

Firefighters say that three units sustained heavy damage. Three other units sustained minor damages.

This is the second significant apartment complex fire of the day in the Tri-State. Earlier on Friday, one person was killed by a fire in North College Hill.
