Cleveland (WOIO) - LeBron James shook off a sluggish start in his latest return to Cleveland to finish with a game-high 28 points, and yet another win over his former team, as the Miami Heat beat the Cavaliers on Wednesday night, 95-84 at the "Q".
James, who was held to just three points in the opening quarter, added nine more in the second quarter, and then turned it on in the second half, as the Heat pulled away to a double-digit lead.
Kyrie Irving was also quiet early in the game, managing only two first-quarter points, and finishing with 16. Instead it was Dion Waiters, the subject of trade rumors, leading the Cavs with 28.
A grass-roots LeBron fan club handed out t-shirts outside the "Q" prior to the game that read "Come Home LeBron", but the former Cavs' star was still booed loudly inside the arena. Asked about the shirts prior to the game, LeBron called it "flattering", but quickly added that "you all know I won't talk about free agency". James can opt out of his Miami contract in next summer.
