Auction company agrees to give Final Four ring to Behanan after family reports it stolen

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An online auction company said it would give a University of Louisville Final Four ring up for bids on its website to Cardinal forward Chane Behanan after his family told a company representative the ring had been stolen.

Earlier on Wednesday, a UofL spokesperson said the university was "looking into" the online auction of what has been presented as Behanan's 2012 NCAA Final Four ring. UofL Sports Information Director Kenny Klein said the University became aware of the auction Tuesday night.

It is unclear whether the ring is, in fact, authentic or how it wound up on The company has since removed the item from the website and posted the following statement: "We have been informed by Chane's mother that this NCAA Final Four ring was indeed stolen from the Behanan family. This lot has been removed from the sale. Please place no bids."

The ring, if authentic, was presented to Behanan following the Cardinals' Final Four run in the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
