Henderson Co. elementary school collecting toys for children's hospital

Niagara Elementary students are doing a toy drive called Nick's Helpers to help patients at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville.

The drive was started by the family of Nicholas Keelen, a former student who died and spent a lot of time at Kosair.

The toys go to the 263 kids who will be hospitalized over the Christmas holiday.

Niagara students are also making posters called Never Give Up Hope to inspire the patients.

"This is a very giving school. We are very conscious of the fact that we are lucky and that we have people that are less fortunate than we are. We talk about that every day and we try to develop our kids to be leaders and see niches in society where we can fill in and help out," said Greg Pirtle, Niagara's guidance counselor.

They are accepting toy donations from the public. If you would like to donate to the toy drive, contact Pirtle at Niagara Elementary.
