Fostoria rail park now open

FOSTORIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Fostoria is known for the number of trains that roll through the city on a daily basis. Now rail fans have another reason to stop by the city: A rail park people have been waiting for is finally open.

Rail enthusiasts say the location of the rail park is unlike any other in the entire state. Instead of hanging out by the side of the tracks, they now have a rail park to call their own. It opened Friday.

Fostoria is called the Iron Triangle because three different railroads are represented. Fans come from all over the state just to watch the trains pass through. Now with a permanent park, more people will be visiting the city.

"It is really a benefit for economic development," said Michael Harvey, from the Rail Preservation Society. "With a diverse amount of trains on a daily basis, with all kinds of road names of the rails, it draws a lot during any time of year."

Fans say the park provides them with a safe place to watch the trains.
