(WMC-TV) - The investigation continues into a Midtown Memphis apartment fire, which shut down a part of the city last week.

The building is boarded up forcing some to find other places to live. Many residents believed it was arson.

Fire investigators have not determined if the fire was intentional, and no has been arrested or charged.

Action News 5 uncovered a Memphis Police Department incident report. Witnesses described to police a man that they saw leaving the scene of the massive apartment fire at 1220 Madison Avenue.

Police picked up an individual fitting that description and identified him as Danterrio Dansberry.

The building property manager told police that Dansberry had been living in the building with someone the apartment's tenant described as an acquaintance.

The property manager said before the fire she heard a physical altercation coming from the apartment where Dansberry had been staying.

In the report, Dansberry told police he had been doing laundry in the basement when someone told him there was a fire in his apartment.

He told a different officer he was in his apartment when the fire started.

Dansberry was released without being charged because fire investigators could not determine if the fire was intentional and could not link him to the fire.

Dansberry has been locked upon an unrelated charge at 201 Poplar since Saturday. He was arrested at a T-Mobile store and accused of trespassing and resisting arrest.

Memphis Fire Department officials said Friday that they are still investigating this case.
