TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - From 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, skate on the Toledo Zoo's new outdoor ice rink with your favorite Toledo Walleye hockey players! It's a remarkable opportunity that blends two top-notch Toledo attractions: the Toledo Walleye and the Toledo Zoo. In addition to fun on the ice, Walleye players will be available for photographs, autographs and meet-and-greets.

Walleye Night is one of the first official events on the zoo's new outdoor ice rink, sponsored by Taylor Automotive Family, and included with regular Lights Before Christmas admission. Skate rental is available for a small fee, or visitors are welcome to bring their own skates.

It's all part of this year's Lights Before Christmas, the "electrical spectacle" presented by KeyBank. Featuring more than a million lights, 200+ illuminated animal images and sparkling festivities all across the zoo, the event runs from Nov. 15 through Dec. 31 opening at 3 p.m. daily, closing at varying hours.

This year, Toledo Zoo members get unlimited, free Lights Before Christmas visits Monday through Thursday, plus one free weekend visit. Visitors save $1 per ticket by ordering online.

Rob Wiercinski will have more details about the Toledo Zoo's new ice rink tonight on WTOL 11 News at 5!
