Area athletes sign letters of intent to play college sports

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Wednesday was national signing day, and many athletes from around northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan signed letters of intent.

Below is a list of local athletes who have decided where they will play at the next level.

  • Anthony Glover of St. John's signs with Chicago State for basketball
  • Amanda Cahill of Clyde signs with Indiana for basketball
  • Sarah Baer of Perrysburg signs with BGSU for basketball
  • Madelyn McCabe of St. Ursula signs with the University of Findlay to play volleyball
  • Lauren Daudelin of St. Ursula signs with Alderson Broaddus University to play volleyball
  • Meghan Franz of Whitmer High School signs with Northwood University to play softball
  • JP Newton of Perrysburg signs with the Ohio State University for wrestling.
  • Rachel Myers of Liberty Benton signs with BGSU for basketball
  • Cassandra Gillespie of Notre Dame signs with Akron for softball
  • Madeline Smyth of Notre Dame signs with Wheeling Jesuit University for volleyball
  • Jayda Worthy of Notre Dame signs with Radford University for basketball
  • Sasha Dailey of Rogers signs with Eastern Michigan for basketball
  • Toriana Easley of Rogers signs with Eastern Michigan for basketball
  • Marquelle Price-Williams of Rogers signs with Lamar University for basketball
  • Ben Silverman of Ottawa Hills signs with Duke for golf
  • Geoffrey Beans signs with Furman for basketball
  • RJ Coil signs with Marist for basketball
  • Keshyra McCarver of Whitmer signs with IPFW
  • Cody Brown of Toledo Christian signs with BGSU for baseball
  • Nate Allen of Bowsher signs with North Carolina Central for basketball

Even though the fish had a 3-0 lead in the first round playoff series, the toughest thing to do in hockey is to beat a desperate team on their home ice.  Halfway through a second overtime Kyle Bonis sets up Christian Hillbrich to score the game winning goal.  The Walleye now advances to the second round.
