Defending SEC champion Florida falls at Wisconsin

MADISON, WI (RNN) - After being down for much of the first half, No. 20 Wisconsin took the lead with more than three minutes left before halftime and held onto it throughout the second half, beating No. 11 Florida 59-53.

The Gators (1-1), who are the defending SEC regular season champions, tried to claw their way back by cutting a 10-point deficit to a three-point deficit with 41 seconds left. But the Badgers (2-0) sustained the lead, limiting the Gators to 53 points while increasing their lead to six.

The Gators' Michael Frazier II led in scoring with 20 points. Patric Young led the Gators with six rebounds, and Kasey Hill helped Florida with four assists.

Wisconsin had 13 turnovers compared to Florida's eight, and also dominated in 3-pointers, making nine compared to the Gators' five.

Florida returns home on Saturday, Nov. 16 for a game against the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans.
