AMHERST, MA (RNN) - LSU held only one lead - at the start of the first half - during their non-conference matchup with Massachusetts, narrowly losing to them 92-90.
The Tigers' Johnny O'Bryant III scored 23 points and 11 rebounds. Anthony Hickey had seven assists and three steals for LSU.
The Minutemen led in field goals and 3-pointers. They led by as many as 10 points in the first half and fought off the Tigers' comeback, leading 49-45 at the break.
LSU freshman Jarell Martin left the court with a limp just 33 seconds into the game but did not return.
LSU plays their first home game on Saturday, Nov. 16 against the Northwestern State Demons.
