POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) -

Posey Co. fire crews have put out the house fire at 9800 West Street in Stewartsville.

The call came in just after six Tuesday morning when a neighbor called reporting smoke coming out of the residence.

Several fire crews responded to the scene including Poseyville, Wadesville, New Harmony and Griffith.

Firefighters say the hydrant closest to the house was not working, so crews had to use tankers to get water. They say the next closest working hydrant was about a half mile away.

No one was one at the time of the fire.
