Bowling Green school to become park

Ridge Elementary School in Bowling Green closed its doors just a few months ago, but new plans are already moving forward to turn the building into a park.

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) - RidgeElementary School in Bowling Green closed its doors just a few months ago, butnew plans are already moving forward to turn the building into a park.

Thecity has plans to knock the building down and turn the property into acommunity park, something neighbors say has been missing.

"There'sgreen spaces in every quadrant except for this one," said Sandra Baker.

Thebuilding was scheduled to be auctioned off at the end of October, but thatnever happened. City officials say they bought the property last month for only$22,500.

Bakersays she is happy that children will now have access to a neighborhood park.

"They'dbe able to walk over there independently rather than have to be supervised togo over to the park," she said.

Officialsare still working to determine with the school, built in 1931, will bedemolished, but say it won't be long.
