WEST PRICE HILL, OH (FOX19) -

Two College of Mount St. Joseph students were killed Sunday evening in a head-on crash.

It happened around 7 p.m. in the 800 bock of Covedale Avenue, near the border of West Price Hill and Delhi. Police report 22-year-old Tyler Stiles was driving a 2003 Honda Civic northbound on Covedale when he lost control, went left of center and hit an oncoming Lexus head-on.

Stiles and a passenger, 22-year-old Michael Tepe, both died in the accident. According to Cincinnati Police, neither was wearing a seatbelt. Speed and alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash.

Stiles and Tepe were both students at Mount St. Joseph. According to MSJ administrators, Stiles grew up in Amelia and was majoring in communications/new media studies and minoring in criminology.

Tepe was from Springboro, majoring in social work and a member of the MSJ football team.

A prayer service was held Monday at Mater Dei Chapel for students and all the MSJ community to grieve and support one another. Students are also planning a balloon release at Schueler Field at 4 p.m.

Funeral arrangements will be provided as they become available.

The driver of the Lexus, 63-year-old Michael Riggs and his wife, Margaret, were taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment. Michael was treated and released, and his wife was listed in stable condition. Authorities said both were wearing seatbelts.

The Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the crash. Any witnesses are asked to call (513) 352-2514.
