The thing to do this weekend in Cincy

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Cheers to the weekend. Veterans Day Weekend, actually.

There's a lot of fun happening around town, plus loads of events and freebies to honor those that have served or are currently serving in our military.

So familiarize yourself with the fun!

Have you heard about the global wine shortage? Experts say this may threaten worldwide consumption. Lucky for you, Jungle Jim's International Wine Festival is pouring wines from around the world Friday and Saturday night. There will be food pairings by country, live music and even a souvenir wine tasting glass. Tickets required: http://www.junglejims.com/winefest/.

Do you get extra excited about new restaurants, bars and parks opening in town? Do you share Cincinnati Internet-love on social media? Do you consider Cincinnati to be the Austin, Texas of the Midwest?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, Imagine Cincy is Friday and you should go. The event celebrates the city's future by highlighting the developments and innovations making our area a great place for young professionals to live, work and play. Enjoy some eats from Keystone Bar & Grill, Fusian and other restaurants, complimentary beer and wine, a Cincy-themed photo booth, a DJ and a SWAG BAG (which sounds cool). All the proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati. It's at The Center on 5th Street downtown.

It's LADIES NITE in Mainstrasse, y'all! Businesses are inviting women to Mainstrasse Village in Covington to enjoy musicians, drinks, food, retail and service specials. The fun is 6 to 10 p.m. Friday.

Holiday Junction featuring the Duke Energy Holiday Trains at Cincinnati Museum Center opens Friday. As a Cincinnati native, I can tell you this is an awesome holiday tradition to start with your family. There's also a 'Rocky Mountain Express' show at the OMNIMAX theater! Bonus: Duke Energy customers get free admission.

The Cincinnati Cyclones are currently 6-0. They face the Ft. Wayne Komets on Saturday at U.S. Bank, which also happens to be when KIDS EAT FREE. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.

Monday is Veterans Day, and we have a whole list of deals happening in the Tri-State to honor our military. Check it out - http://www.fox19.com/story/20051556/veterans-day-events-and-freebies
