PORT CLINTON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Devin Kohlman is a special kid, and the entire city of Port Clinton knows it. Residents are going all out for Devin - creating a Christmas-Halloween holiday extravaganza in his honor.

That's because there is a chance Devin will not be around this Christmas. Devin has been battling an aggressive form of brain cancer for over a year. His family just learned the chemotherapy is not working. Doctors say Devin has weeks to live.

"We want Devin to have the best Christmas that he's ever had," said Alexis Kohlman, Devin's mother. "And we want to make sure that he has Christmas."

Community members worked to bring in artificial snow for Devin on Wednesday. Volunteers even brought in a lift and dropped snow in front of a window.

"I've never seen anything like it," said Kohlman. "We're really thankful. But it's for Devin. It's not for us."

The city threw a welcome home parade for Devin Sunday night, and Walmart agreed to fund all of the family's Christmas gifts this year.

"I would hope that if this were to happen to my kids, the community would pull together as well and support my family," said Julie Whiteside, a resident.

Devin's family is asking anyone who wants to help, near of far, to send him a Christmas card. His address is 218 East 2nd Street, PO Box 323, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452.
