The community is coming together in Lenawee County to support the local Humane Society.

LENAWEE COUNTY, MI (Toledo News Now) - Thecommunity is coming together in Lenawee County to support the local Humane Society.

Theroof there was old and leaked any time it rained, so leaders at the HumaneSociety turned to the community for help paying for repairs. They say donationscame in, but it wasn't enough to cover the cost until two local businessesstepped in.

BrownRoofing and Sons offered free labor for the repairs, and Williams Insulationoffered to cover the remaining cost of materials.

"TheHumane Society is solely based on donations from the public, so any money thatwe get comes from the public, and to use that money for anything other than theanimals is really hard for us," said Marcie Cornell, executive director of theLenawee County Humane Society.

Cornellsays she's happy the community supports not only the animals under their roof, but the organization as a whole.
