Toledo trick-or-treating Oct. 31, rain or shine

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The forecast is calling for a soggy Halloween this year, but the city of Toledo is not changing its trick-or-treat plans.

Public Safety Director Shirley Green says trick-or-treating in Toledo is set for Thursday from 6-8 p.m., rain or shine.

There were similar concerns before Halloween last year due to high winds, but the city stuck to their plan. Green asks parents to use their best judgment before going out with their children and to be extra cautious on the pavement if it is wet from rain.

"There was an incident years ago where we did change the normal trick-or-treating time and parents got in a little uproar, so we decided not to change it ever again," Green said. "Rain or shine, October 31 from 6-8."

Important tips to stay safe no matter the weather: Kids should never run across a street. Hey should cross at corners and not between parked cars, and if walking on a street without sidewalks, walk on the left side of the road, facing traffic.
