Marquee going up for Owensboro's convention center

Construction on the convention center in Owensboro is well underway. On Monday, crews installed the latest piece that they hope will grab your attention.

It's a taste of Hollywood's bright lights in Owensboro. The brand new marquee is going up on the corner of West Second Street and Locust.

The $205,000 sign will have a ten foot wide, programmable video screen, showcasing all-things-entertainment in Owensboro.

Convention center officials say they hope to catch your eye by having elements of the convention center in it.

City officials say energy efficient LED lights will keep the sign lit at night.

"It's just an important part of the entire package. So as we move forward as a community and as a building, it's important to have this as a communication for our guest and our clients," said Dean Dennis, the Vice President of Global Spectrum,

The sign is expected to be complete before the convention center opens.
