ShapeUp ShowDown: Meet the Contestants

(WMC-TV) – They came hoping to make the cut and in turn, cut the fat out of their diets, bodies and exercise routines. They are fathers, mothers, grandmothers, church pastors, caregivers, coaches, and government workers.

And now, the 10 of them have one thing in common, they are all about to take the ShapeUp ShowDown Challenge.

But, first, they had to be thoroughly checked out: weight, blood analysis, hearing and lung tests. There were EKG's, body composition analyses, body mass indexes, chest x-rays, and ultra sounds. It was all done to make sure our ShapeUp ShowDown challengers can handle the physical challenges of the next 90 days.

Glenn Vaulx, Jr., 44, is married with two kids. Vaulx signed up for the challenge on his wife's birthday; she told him it's the best gift ever.

Dawn Flagg, 54, is a single mother of three. The former Air Force officer says her mission now is to get healthy, lose weight, and maybe date again.

Debbie Horn, 52, is a grandmother. She hopes to lose enough weight so she can keep up with her grandchildren.

Jennifer Terry, 28, is a single mom. The former cheerleader wants to lose 55 pounds.

Michael Malone, 54, is a soccer coach. He believes reducing his BMI will help eliminate his need for blood pressure medications.

Kelvin Lake, 36, is a married father of three. The church pastor hopes to drop 100 pounds.

Cristie Rogers, 26, is a single mom, who had gastric sleeve surgery last year but didn't change her eating and lifestyle habits.

Michael Tyson, 37, is a self-employed husband and father of two who wants to set a healthy example for his daughter who is also becoming overweight.

Sonja Ross, 33, is a married mother of four. She wants to get healthy enough to become a viable kidney donor for her father.

Hodan Ibrahim, 29, is a married  mother of four. Hodan is looking to get out of what she calls the "prison" of her own body.
