The heat is on: how to keep warm, safe this winter

We've reached the point of the year where turning up the heat is almost a necessity to brave the cold.  But whether you're dealing with electricity or gas, sometimes cranking up the heat can leave you literally playing with fire.

Monday morning on Your Morning, Toledo News Now's Natalie Clark taught us some winter safety tips with Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld of the Toledo Fire Department.

According to Lt. Hertzfeld, making sure basement ducts and exhaust pipes are secure is an essential part of protecting yourself from dangerous fumes.  He also says checking for the smell of natural gas can help you detect any potential leaks before disaster strikes.
