Coroner identifies Miami student found on railroad tracks

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) -

Oxford Police are investigating after a body was found on railroad tracks Saturday morning.

The Butler County Coroner has identified the body as 19-year-old Jacob Samuel Jarman. Authorities say Jarman was an sophomore at Miami University.

Officers say that Jarman was originally from Greenwood Village, Colorado, a prominent suburb of the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area. Jarman went to high school at Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora where he played football.

The high school has released a statement stating:   

"We are saddened to inform you that we learned that Jake Jarman '12 was hit and killed by a train late Friday night/early Saturday morning near his school, Miami of Ohio. According to Jake's mother Kathleen, Jake was on foot (having no car at school), and was hit while crossing the tracks by the train that loops the campus. The family is taking some small consolation in the fact that he had been extremely happy at college. Please join the entire community of Regis Jesuit in praying for the Jarman family and all who knew and loved Jake during this time of loss. We will post additional information about arrangements as we learn of them."

Officers received reports of the body found around 9:15 a.m. on Saturday. Police say the body was found in the 500 block of South College. 

Primary investigation has revealed that Jarman died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries. His death is currently under investigation. Police are awaiting toxicology reports, a process that could take weeks. 

Burial for Jarman will be in Colorado.
