TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Madison Avenue Marketing Group is bringing a creative space to Toledo's Uptown district.

On Friday, there was music, singing by Mayor Mike Bell and free food to celebrate the opening of the Mad Ave Collective.

"The Collective is a shared workspace specifically for creatives," said Mad Ave CEO Jerry Brown.

Creatives are writers, photographers, website developers and any other freelance creative service providers. The new space provides a relaxed environment where creatives can invite clients, hold meetings and give presentations.

"Having that all in one place and being able to talk to many different people who are working on many different projects, it's inspiring, and it brings up a lot of new ideas," said Clara Engel, a 'creative.'

Organizers say one of the main goals for this new space is to make sure creative minds and creative business stays in the Glass City.

"[There are] a lot of great creatives in the Toledo area and we have some leave to go to other places because there are no places for them to get together, so we're trying to get this part of town as the creative district," Brown said.

Brown is looking to move the Uptown district toward being a creative one, and Mayor Mike Bell says he's behind him.

"Each city is built one block at a time, and if everybody starts to commit to the city of Toledo, then we will recreate this city in such a big way," Bell said.

Members of the Mad Ave Collective will have to pay a monthly fee. In return, they will have 24-hour access to the space. Anyone interested in joining can sign up here.
