CALL 11 FOR ACTION: Abandoned house disturbs neighbors in Perrysburg Twp

PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Perrysburg Heights residents are up in arms over an abandoned lot they say hasn't been touched in years.

The lot is located on the corner of Broad Street and Roosevelt. There are no doors or windows left on the home. It has been labeled an unsafe structure by Perrysburg Township officials, and neighbors say they want to see it demolished.

Over the years, thieves have stolen everything that could be taken – windows, doors, and even pipes from the ceiling.

Juan DeLao lives next door to the abandoned house. He says he's been cutting the grass there for years, and he tries to watch for squatters and animals, but he recently had a costly encounter with a raccoon.

"It cost me about a hundred dollars to get rid of it," DeLao said. "He came in my house somehow. I left the back door open, my fault, and he ruined my ceiling tile and quite a bit of stuff."

Township officials say they have heard concerns about the property and have talked to the owner. They say they are working to see how much demolition would cost.

If you feel like there is a problem in your neighborhood that needs to be addressed, call the Call 11 for Action team at 419-255-2255.
