Cedar Creek Church collecting holiday gifts for kids

(Toledo News Now) -

A local church is trying to help provide gifts for over 1 million boys and girls in over 130 countries this holiday season.

The Cedar Creek Church is calling it Operation Christmas Child. Volunteers take boxes the size of a shoe box and fill them with gifts. Samaritan's Purse works with local churches like Cedar Creek to deliver the gifts to boys and girls around the world.

Cedar Creek and other organizations in northwest Ohio will give approximately 50,000 gifts. Pastor Ben Snyder says this is a great way for the church to give back to the community.

"It's important for us to participate in events like this because families matter to us at Cedar Creek," Snyder said. "It's our way of sharing that kind of love with the world."

Boxes will be given away this weekend at all four Cedar Creek locations and they will be collected to be shipped on Nov. 15 and 16.
