LUCAS COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) - A puppy rescued by the Lucas County Pit Crew is in desperate need of help.

Darby's eight weeks on Earth haven't been the easiest, but she's now in the care of the Lucas County Pit Crew (LCPC). The rescue group took Darby in Tuesday night, and they say she needed immediate attention.

Darby, a pit mix, is emaciated and dehydrated. After a visit to the vet, she's eating like a champ, but she's still very sick.

"She's really underweight. She only weighs about five pounds right now and at this age, she should really weigh about 15 pounds," said Amy Roth, a volunteer. "She has a ways to go, so she'll be in foster care getting well, getting nutrients and love to help her get better."

Caring for Darby as she gets well is expensive, and the LCPC needs help. Visit their website for information on donating.
