SENECA COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A key witness took the stand Tuesday in a Seneca County murder trial.

Calvin Dixson is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend Tyeesha Snowden (formerly Ferguson), and shooting and killing her mother in Fostoria on July 28.

Still recovering from being shot seven times, Snowden took the stand Tuesday to recount what happened the day her mother was killed.

Snowden described the shots fired into the car she and her mother, 50-year-old Lisa Stowers, sat in in her grandmother's driveway on Bannister Street. She testified that when Dixson, her ex-boyfriend, approached the car, he walked to the passenger side to speak to her mother.

"I didn't take my eyes off of Calvin," Snowden said. "He said to [Stower], ‘You thought I was playing?' and he lifted his shirt, brandished a black pistol and opened fire."

Prosecutors showed the court text messages Dixson sent to Snowden after they ended their relationship in 2012. Snowden says Dixson was a bitter ex who often threatened to kill her and her children when she didn't respond to him.

Dixson was arrested in Cleveland a day after the shooting. Cleveland Police say they did not find a gun or ammunition in the truck he was driving.

The 14-member jury will decide if Dixson is guilty of aggravated murder and attempted murder this week. If found guilty, Dixson could face life in prison without parole.
