FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The debut of a film that sheds light on the murder of a Findlay woman was canceled last week, but it will be shown in the city.

Dozens of purple ribbons now line one block of Main Street in downtown Findlay as the family of Vera Jo Reigle cries out for justice.

The "Voices for Vera" group spent Monday hanging ribbons and bringing attention to her 2011 murder and the justice they say was never served. Since last Wednesday, supporters have staged rallies after the showing of the film "Good Night, Sugar Babe" was canceled.

The University of Findlay made the decision to cancel the showing, afraid of confrontation between the families involved. The documentary has stirred up anger in the community.

"I'm going to do what I have to do," said MiMi Williams, with Voices for Vera. "If I'm 80 or 90 years old, I'm still going to be out here until they're all gone."

"I have to sit there and tell my 4-year-old son and my new baby that I just had where their Auntie Vera is," said Ashley Messersmith, Reigle's sister. "I just want to tell my sister that we love her and we're trying to get justice for her."

Two people are serving time behind bars for Reigle's death, but family members believe more were involved.

The president of the Steel Workers' Union at Cooper Tire has agreed to show "Good Night, Sugar Babe" next weekend at Union Hall, but exact times have not been set.

Family and friends are planning a rally for Saturday, Nov. 9, at the railroad tracks where Reigle was killed.
