Budget-friendly DIY Halloween costumes

Having the best costume at your Halloween party doesn't have to cost a lot of money or even take a lot of time to create! Do-it-yourself costumes are the way to go this year if you're on a budget.

Having the best costume at your Halloween party doesn't have to cost a lot of money or even take a lot of time to put together.

Do-it-yourself, or DIY, costumes allow you to get creative, and can work perfectly for people who have to throw a costume together at the last minute.

A few examples of some DIY costumes found on Pinterest include the Lego. In order to create the look, simple cut out arm and neck holes in a cardboard box, allowing you to slip your body into it.

The box must then be covered with a red, plastic table cloth. Finally, use a hot glue gun or tape to stick red plastic drinking cups on the box.

Another way to get creative for Halloween is making a costume with a play on words. For example, you can recreate the saying "It's raining cats and dogs," by using safety pins to clip dog and cat stuffed animals onto an umbrella. Play up the look by throwing on a raincoat and rain boots.

Lastly, you can always get a laugh by wearing a costume that illustrates something in popular culture.  The Facebook Profile costume allows you to personalize a white poster board into you're own Facebook homepage, cutting out a rectangular box in the poster so you can stick your head through it. This craft only requires a poster board, scissors, and markers to decorate the board.
