LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) -

Rosemont Elementary School in LaGrange, Ga. dismissed early when 19 students were injured in an accident involving an inflatable slide.

Troup Co. authorities say a 24-ft slide collapsed while a group of 5th grade children were playing on it in the school gymnasium at 12:40 p.m. The accident happened during an Accelerated Reader Celebration.

Two children were airlifted to Children's at Egleston Pediatric Hospital in Atlanta and five were taken by ambulance to West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. So far, all of the children have been released.

"We care about our children. They are our priority, and we are deeply saddened by this unfortunate accident," said School Superintendent Cole Pugh in a press release. "We will continue to work closely with law enforcement officials to determine the cause. Please keep our children, families, and school staff in your thoughts as we recover from this incident."
