GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A Tennessee man was arrested after detectives say he reportedly tried to lure a 12-year-old boy from Goshen Township into a sexual relationship after meeting on the PlayStation Network.

Detectives say the suspect represented himself as a 16-year-old and friended the boy through Facebook after chatting for a couple of weeks on PlayStation.

Goshen Township Police Sergeant Ron Robinson and Tennessee detectives began an online investigation into the matter in September. It was determined the man was actually 21-years-old living in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

About three weeks ago, the boy's mother, who we'll call Mary to protect her identity, says she was shocked at some of the messages her son was receiving.

"When I went through his messages on his Facebook account and read where he was asking for nude photos of my son in exchange for PlayStation cards," says Mary.

With permission of the boy's mother, Sgt. Robinson took over the boy's social media accounts and cell phone acting as the boy and informed the suspect that he was actually only 12-years-old.

"I actually portrayed as 12-years-old and got on there, told him I was 12. He sent me nude photos of him, nude videos of him," said Robinson.Authorities say the man sent several nude photos and videos of himself.

In addition, while acting as the boy, Sgt. Robinson says the suspect sent a money transfer to him to help purchase a bus ticket to Chattanooga.

Freeman was arrested when he showed up at the bus station and Robinson says he found evidence in his car. "Inside the vehicle he had lubricant, he had condoms, I mean he was ready. He had alcohol back at the house which he said he was going to give to the child."Freeman was charged with two counts of felony importuning and faces other charges once extradited to Ohio.

Freeman is charged with felony importuning and Mary says it should serve as a cautionary tale for parents.

"I've seen a lot of those kids' Facebook pages. Boys and girls and the parents are not paying attention to what they're doing obviously," explains Mary. "I mean, these girls are on Facebook in bathing suit tops for their profile pictures. They have their address, phone numbers, everything listed right under their profiles when there's sickos like this guy wandering around."

Sgt. Robinson says more and more sexual predators are on line right now looking for victims so parents need to be aware of what their kids are doing on line.

One month out of the year is certainly not enough to observe safer driving habits. This is something we should always keep in mind. The good news is, there are ways in which our changing culture is evolving to deal with technology and how it can both hel...
